Meet Iliyasa Haji Mdigo one of Africa Foundation’s Community Leaders Education Fund (CLEF) scholarship (bursary) program recipients from 2017. Iliyasa now has a Bachelor of Science with Education from Sumait University and he lives in Kigomani Community, Zanzibar.
Iliyasa is also currently employed as a Community & Conservation (C&C) Ranger for the Oceans Without Borders (Oceans Without Borders) Team at the Mnemba &Beyond lodge, Zanzibar.
“The CLEF Bursary Program changed my life for the better. I was awarded the bursary in 2017 and completed my Bachelor’s Degree in record time. The most amazing part of this program is that it is deeply rooted in the community. Without my community I am nothing; I, therefore, decided to give back my knowledge and services to the community I am from. Without the CLEF Bursary Program, I would not be the individual I am today.”
